THE DEBATE: Acro in the Olympics?

With the 2008 Beijing Olympics upon us, the whole World turns its attention to Artistic, Tramp and Rhythmic gymnastics, and again, leaves people asking what Acrobatic gymnastics is...

...It is frustrating that our amazing sport isn't yet an Olympic discipline- but will it ever become part of the games, will this happen in 2012? and how would inclusion in the Olympics change the sport?

What do YOU think?

Hi Sarah. No it is unlikely that it will be in the Olympics. And frankly I don't believe that it will be a benefit to the sport even if it did. Rhythmics has been in the games since 1984, and yet it is not given much coverage. Tramp and tumbling have been in the games since 2002, yet I can't find any television coverage. Even in this Olympiad I have not seen much coverage because here in the States it was broadcast live late at night.

By the way I set up an acro and gymnastics blog on my school website. There does not seem to be many blogs on the topic. Do you know of any others? I am in Dallas, Texas but that is irrelevant for the internet. My site is http://www.acroschool.com/Blog. Any info you could send me would be appreciated.
