The first session of the afternoon saw three British partnerships take to the floor, two Men’s Pairs and one Mixed Pair. Chambers and Wood from Spelthorne Elite Acrobatics were the first British partnership to perform, following a strong opening routine from Poland. The boys completed a clean and well performed routine which the home crowd loved, clapping along to every beat. The Mixed Pair of Kaman Mitchel and Shanie-Redd Thorne from King Edmund, coached by Nikki Thorne, surged ahead of the Russian partnership scoring 28.300 for their well polished, entertaining and highly executed routine. Another strong performance from the GBR boys was still to come, this time Houston and Pritchard added another level of talent to the high scoring afternoon with an amazing score of 28.600 – taking the first place position away from Russia.The scoreboards at this point made excellent reading for the Home Nation, both the Mixed Pair and Mens Pair from GBR leading the proceedings, ahead of Russia in both disciplines. The last four routines, ending the 11-16 competition for today were from the Men's Groups. It was going to be a tough discipline, with Poland, Great Britain, Russia and Belarus battling it out to be ahead in the first day of qualification. The GBR Four from Deerness Valley scored a very respectable 27.900, with the Russian group completing a near perfect routine, scoring 28.100, just beating them to the first place position at this stage. This afternoon the British 11-16 Age Group squad shone and showed their true depth to the audience and judges in Glasgow. Let’s hope they continue on this form tomorrow when the 11-16 competition continues with the Mixed Pair and Women's Group showing their balance routines and Men's Group and Men's Pair competing their dynamic.
